Project: Hotel Budersand
Location: Sylt, Germany
Architect: Dierks Kunze Oevermann Architekten, Berlin
Year: 2009
Sylt is the largest German island in the North Sea. Its sea climate benefits from the influence of the Gulf Stream, making it a highly attractive tourist destination. 'Budersand', Sylt's second highest dune at 32m, sits at the southern tip of the island. The area was formerly used for military purposes, and has been repurposed following its landscape-compatible redesign. Right next to the sophisticated 18-hole golf course, a new tourist attraction opened in 2009: Budersand Hotel – Golf and Spa. The hotel comprises 79 rooms and suites, function rooms, restaurants, and an excellent spa area spanning 1100m². The fittings in the guest bathrooms are equally carefully chosen: luxurious natural stone coverings, exclusive ceramics and sophisticated fixtures. CeraLine by Dallmer, the multiple award-winning linear drainage, was the first choice for the level-access showers.
